HELLO, I’M RENÉ

All in all, I much prefer being behind the camera.

LIKE MANY OF YOU,

I have loved and lost. Through this I’ve learned that pictures are important, because life is important. We can’t hold onto these fleeting moments, but we can capture moments in time. As life continues to charge forward, often these photos are all we have left to grasp onto.

I love when clients become friends, and being there to capture and document their lives through the years.

There’s a beauty and drama in your everyday life. My goal is to capture that for you in honest and timeless images.

your life doesn’t need a filter

Have you ever noticed that all of the most iconic images, the ones that have stood the test of time and are still revered today, are all actually quite simple in their composition. It’s in that simplicity the subject matter of the image is allowed to tell the story.

Whether in colour or black & white, these classic and iconic images can convey a time, place, and feeling. There’s no need for filters, or behind the scenes manipulation of the image, and that is where true photography shines.

Over the years I’ve worked hard to hone my instincts and abilities to keep true to this philosophy of simplicity in order to create natural yet dramatic images that capture the beauty and honesty in any moment. Part of this comes from learning to work with the natural light available in a space, part comes from knowing how to be in the right place at the right time to capture a candid moment. These are the things you may not necessarily pick up on while I’m shooting, but my goal is always to get the best shot with my camera not to create one in post production.

The other side of capturing stunning images is working with people I truly enjoy knowing and being around. I’ve been told I have the ability to make people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera, and that is a bigger compliment than you may realize.
